Privacy Policy – ClimaSignal

ClimaSignal is a mobile app developed by Green Alert (“we”). This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have as a user.

2. Data collected by ClimaSignal

ClimaSignal collects only the data necessary to provide the weather alerts service and improve the app.

a) Location data

Collected only if you grant the corresponding permission to the operating system: approximate and/or precise device location, to show current weather and to create and evaluate alerts based on your locations.

b) Account data (when you create an account)

• Email address.
• Password (stored in encrypted form).
• Preferred language.
• In some cases, identifiers for access with external providers (Google, Facebook) if you choose to use them.

c) Configuration and usage data

• Alerts you create (alert type, thresholds, locations, days ahead, time).
• Saved locations (name and coordinates).
• Language and notification preferences.
• Basic aggregated usage information (e.g., how many alerts you have active).

d) Device data

• Push notification identifier (FCM/Expo token).
• Operating system and app version.

e) Premium payment data

• Purchase identifiers provided by Google Play and RevenueCat (e.g., product ID, transaction ID or receipt).
• We do not have access to your card number or full banking details.

f) Use without an account (anonymous mode)

If you choose to use ClimaSignal without creating an account, your alerts, locations and preferences are associated with an anonymous device identifier. This information may be optionally synced with our servers so we can send you notifications, but it is not linked to an email address or other directly identifying data.

3. How we use your data

We use the data described above to:

• Provide the main service: show weather forecasts, create and maintain your alerts, send notifications when conditions are met.
• Push notifications: send rain, heat or other condition alerts according to your settings, and important messages about relevant changes to the service.
• Premium version management: verify and maintain your Premium purchase status (ad-free) and prevent purchase-related fraud.
• Improve the app: analyse in an aggregated and anonymous way, where possible, how ClimaSignal is used to improve performance and stability.

We do not use your data to build advanced commercial profiles or to sell it to third parties.

4. Who we share your data with

We share data only with providers necessary for ClimaSignal to operate:

• Weather data provider: forecast services that receive coordinates to return forecasts.
• Push notifications (Firebase / Expo / FCM): to send notifications to your device using the notification token.
• Advertising (Google AdMob): the free version shows ads through AdMob, which may collect device identifiers according to its own policies.
• In-app purchases (Google Play and RevenueCat): to manage ClimaSignal Premium purchases using the necessary purchase identifiers.
• Backend and database infrastructure: hosting providers that securely store the API and data associated with your alerts and account.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

5. Advertising and ClimaSignal Premium

The free version of ClimaSignal shows ads through Google AdMob. You can choose ClimaSignal Premium, which removes ads from the app. Even if you stop seeing ads, we will still use some technical data to send notifications, maintain your alerts and ensure the service works correctly.

6. Legal basis and consent

Depending on your country, the main legal basis for processing your data may be:

• Performance of a contract: we need to process certain data (alerts, locations, account) to provide you with the service.
• Consent: we obtain your consent when you accept location or notification permissions, or when you decide to create an account or make a Premium purchase.

You can revoke some consents from your device settings or by contacting us.

7. Data retention

• We retain your data while you actively use ClimaSignal and maintain an account with us.
• If you uninstall the app and use it only in anonymous mode, some information is removed from the device; data associated with an anonymous identifier will be retained only as long as necessary to maintain the service.
• If in the future we offer an explicit “Delete account” option, using it will delete or anonymise the associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it for legal obligations.

8. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights such as access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection and data portability.

To exercise these rights or raise any questions, email support@greenalert.app stating that your enquiry relates to ClimaSignal. We may ask you for additional information to verify your identity.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, such as encrypted communications via HTTPS and restricted access to databases. No system is completely secure, but we work to minimise the risks of unauthorised access, loss or misuse of information.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in ClimaSignal, applicable legislation or our internal processes. We will publish the new version at this same URL with the “Last updated” date. If changes are significant, we may notify you in the app or by other reasonable means.
